How do I set up a two tier Partner Program?

Frank Hagan

I am about to launch and I want to gather a buzz by paying commission to partners and anyone that they refer who refers over sales as well.

A word on 1 and 2 tier Partner Programs

  • A 1 tier system means that the only time a commission is made is when someone refers your product and a sale is made.
  • A 2 tier system allows for the original referrer to make another, usually smaller commission whenever someone who they referred makes a referral that ends up in a sale. This of course, gives your partners an incentive to refer people who refer.

How to do this

  • First, decide if you want to provide an Partner Center for your partners to view their referrals and promotional materials. Then set your global rules for all of your Partner Programs in your account. This is where you’ll determine if you pay off of First or Last Referrer. st or Last Referrer.
  • After this you need to go about creating your two tier Partner Program. Be sure that the products you want to have the partners promote are marked as commissionable from within the Partner Program settings.

  • Next, return to the Partner Management Overview page and execute the steps to creating a Partner Program (steps 3-7)

*After finishing step four be sure that you also create a promo tool that points to the Partner Sign-up Form! This is how your partners will use an affiliate link to "refer" other partners! Once you have this structure set up you can continue with developing and launching your product.

A word of caution: Be sure that every page you are sending people to has a Tracking Script installed on it! If you are sending people to a WordPress page on a site with PilotPress installed you don’t need to worry about this; these pages are automatically tracked by ONTRAPORT. If you are sending clients to any other webpage, be sure you have created and posted Tracking Scripts on the end pages so the partner sales track correctly.
