Yes, a Contact can be in multiple places on a Campaign Map at the same time. You get to control this behavior, but before you change everything, consider the following:
- Do you have any Contacts who are prospects for one product but have already purchased another product?
- Do you have any Contacts who have opted out of receiving bulk email (bulk email status is transactional only), but still visit your webpage and / or still purchase your products?
As those two questions indicate, a single Contact may be both a customer and a prospect. They may not want email from you, but still frequent a membership site, or buy your products.
In the physical realm we mere mortals can only be in one place at one time. But for the businesses we interact with, we can be both prospect and buyer. Campaigns depict your business, and are not limited to the rules for their physical presence.
You may have Goals that you know will be reached in series. Visiting a Landing Page might be a Goal, and then completing the order form on the page might be a second Goal. In that case you can set the purchase Goal to "move the contact here" and have them only in one place on the Map. But if the Goals are in different Campaign Paths, you might want the Contact in both places at once.
