Add a Facebook Comment Box to your Landing Page or WordPress Site

Martin Cogburn

Tip: Facebook Comment Box

The Tip

You can add a Facebook comment box right onto your website or your ONTRAPORT Landing Page, allowing users to add comments to Facebook right from your site/page.  If someone comments through your site/page, the link where the box is located is posted to Facebook.  Friends and people who like the Page can then respond to the discussion by liking or replying to the comment directly in the news feed or in the Comments box on your site. Threads stay synchronized across Facebook and on the Comments box on your site regardless of where the comment was made.

How to set this up

  1. First, create a Facebook App if you haven't already (Apps >> Create New App).  Note that this may or may not even be necessary depending on exactly what you’re trying to do.  Mostly this is for those who are making custom apps.)

  2. Visit the Social Plugins page and click on the Comments Box link

  3. Input the URL of where the comment box will live as well as ‘Width’, ‘Number of posts’ and ‘Color Scheme’ then click on Get Code commentbox2.png

  4. If you’ve already created your FB App in step 1 then you’ll see the ID already input into the code. commentbox1.png

  5. On your WordPress website or in your ONTRAPORT Landing Page editor, create a new HTML layer and paste in the code you pulled from step 4.

  6. If Applicable, plugin your 'App ID' in the code with your actual App ID.  Remember this was already done when you clicked on ‘Get Code’ if you created your App first.

  7. Save and test.
