Business Card Scanner

Stephen Gregg

It would be great to have a way to scan business cards directly into my database. And I hear Infusionsoft just released one.

IFS did release one. I don't know what they charge for it but I'm sure it's not free. It's a "human entered" service similar to iCapture.com. IFS is probably not as expensive as the stand alone services; iCapture is $50 per month for the version that will scan, be human corrected and then submit the details to your CRM using a webform.

Here's a cheaper alternative: You can create the same type of function using Zapier.com and an app on your phone that scans business cards. I use CamCard and it is available for both iOS and Android. Here's my set up:

  1. CamCard business card scanner app on my Android phone (free for 200 cards)
  2. Google Contacts (part of my Google Apps account)
  3. Zapier.com (free level, will sync my new Google Contacts to ONTRAPORT)

When I snap a picture of a business card in CamCard it uses it's OCR functions to read the business card, and allows me to make any corrections. Then it saves it to my Google Contacts.

Zapier looks for new Google Contacts being added and syncs them into my ONTRAPORT account. It tags them for me, and can optionally add them to a sequence if I like.
