I think you may be mistaken!
If you pop that merge field into the link editor and change the HTTPS to other protocol, I bet you will be in business.

Modify Event Link as Button
I would love to be able to have a button at the bottom of call reminder emails that gives clients the ability to modify the event. Currently the merge field [Calendar event//Modify Event] which generates the link, can't be used in a button or with text.
