I would like to be able to create a greeting in our ontraport emails that says 'Hey [First Name], it's Kelsey here...' if they have a first name, but if they don't have a first name, then use 'Hey, it's Kelsey here...' (there is no way to remove the space if the first name is blank with the present controls). We used to do this in Mailchimp: https://mailchimp.com/help/use-conditional-merge-tag-blocks/

Thanks for your feature request. The best way to achieve this currently is to use default merge fields. For example, if your default merge field is set to "Friend", the email would say 'Hey Friend, it's Kelsey here'.
