Abbreviated States

It sure would be helpful to have the option to set State fields in Contacts to show either full name or two-letter abbreviation!  Any time I export contacts for a mail merge, I have to do a find and replace in the merge doc (because who the heck spells out the name of a State on an address label?!?).
