That's a good idea, and one I've not heard before. Thanks for the suggestion, Seth.
Our business relies on the accuracy of our records within a specific custom object. It would be great to have the option to lock individual records so they cannot be accidentally edited or deleted. I know some of this can be managed through permissions, but even on the admin account I want to prevent myself from doing it mistakenly.
I envision something similiar to Excel where you can lock certain cells and if you try to edit those cells it either pops up a warning notification or prompts you to enter the account password prior to editing/deleting to make sure that it is intentional.
This would also be great for pages and other objects. I accidentally deleted the homepage of our website because it stayed checked when I was trying to delete the copy that I had made. I had to have a partial rollback done and it was really a pain. If I could just lock pages that I don't want deleted that would really provide peace of mind and security.
