Allow merge fields in prefilled forms

Joshua Schleifer

I'm including a form in a task. I would like to prefill one of the fields in the form with a merge field but it is not pulling it in.

Thanks

Hi! Your post is from quite a while ago, and I'm not sure exactly what you were trying to accomplish, but I do want to let you know we just released some major updates to prefill form settings. I've pasted our feature release information below:

Feature update! Form additions you’ll love

Today, we’re releasing three new updates to forms in Ontraport Pages!

First up, you probably know that you’ve been able to pre-fill text fields with merge fields for ages. But now, you can do it with dropdowns, list selections, checkboxes and all the other field types too! This makes it possible to create sophisticated app-like experiences for your visitors.

For example, you can create a customer profile in your membership site. When your members need to make changes, they’ll find all their existing data ready to tweak.

This update also allows identified visitors to fill out forms faster and more accurately, because you can give them a head start by filling in data you already have. Less typing of data means fewer errors in your forms!

Second, we’ve updated the functionality of checkboxes and list selection fields so that they will work perfectly in your apps too.

Now, if someone unchecks a checkbox on a form, it’ll also be unchecked in their contact record. And the same is true if selections are removed in list selection fields. What they see when they submit the form is exactly what you see in your records.

Finally, you can now update your contacts’ information for them using forms on Pages without affecting your tracking. Using the new “do not track” option in form settings, the cookie we use to identify contacts will be ignored, and no new ones will be set. This means you can safely create internal forms for your team to use on behalf of customers without them ever having to log in to Ontraport. You can use internal forms to streamline data collection for your team - ensuring you always get all the right info after a call, for example -  or kick off a new automated process, and a lot more.
