Ability to select entire group and unselect certain contacts

Currently, I can't select an entire group and unselect certain contacts to send only some people in the group an email. When I select the whole group and then unselect 2 contacts, it unselects everyone in the group except the current page. Then when I click to the next page, the entire group is unselected. 

Support said the easiest ways to solve this are:

1) Create a Tag and give it to everyone in the Group except the specific contacts. And make a new Group of everyone with that Tag. (But since I can't select a whole group and unselect certain contacts, I would have to do this all manually, clicking contacts one by one - way too many contacts to do that - and at that point I might as well just skip the tag process and send the email to the people I just spent 10 minutes clicking on.)

2) Or I can create a tag, and only give it to those 2 contacts and add a Condition in my current Group: Contact Tags > Does not contain > _____Tag . Then remove the condition once I've sent the email. 

I would like to be able to select a whole group and simply unselect certain people.
