Google OAuth 2.0 for SSO & Email Logging

James Bowie

Tighter integration with Google via OAuth 2.0 would lay the foundation for a number of potential of useful features, including:

  • direct integration with GMail as an alternative to IMAP for email logging
  • SSO for G Suite users
  • enable website tracking using Google Analytics or GTM directly without the need for API keys
  • possible creation of a GMail sidebar widget to fetch and display dynamic Ontraport data

Thank you for the feature request! Better Gmail integration is on our development roadmap, so I will make sure this request is added to the suggestions.

I second this... where's it up to?  At the moment I'm unable to do any sync with my google gmail account as Ontraport is regarded as a "less secure app"

We are waiting for final approval of our new integration with Gmail for what was formerly called "IMAP Settings" in the app. That section is now called "Email Sync". Google requires us to pay to test the integration and takes from 3 to 6 months to finalize it. We do have a limited number of "test users" that can use the new email sync function with Google, so contact Support if you would like to be included.

If you are using Outlook, email sync is also available using their API rather than IMAP. Contact support to have that turned on as well.

Hi James! We thought you'd like to know we just released Social Signup and Login with Google or Facebook. Here's some info on the release:

You no longer need to remember another email and password to access Ontraport. Just use your Google or Facebook account to log in.

New users can get connected at signup. But if you already have an account, set up social logins from your Personal Profile.

Plus, new security actions to control who can access your account are available. Log users out of their sessions and lock them out if you suspect a user seat was compromised. And send a password reset email to make users change their password.

Learn more here.
