We have implemented this now. When an error occurs the form will scroll so the field in question is in the viewport.

Alert on forms when required fields are filled in
There have been several requests for forms to have an alert when people click submit, but haven't filled in any required fields on the form. Especially on longer forms where they can't see the "!" in red next the fields they missed at the top of the form. Rather than the page be stagnant either have an alert pop up OR auto-scroll the page up to the fields that need to be filled in.
