Create "OR" conditions in a group.

Trevor Sellman

Create "OR" conditions in a group.

For example, we would like to create a group of customers that have the fields "Field 1 = YES" OR "Field 2 = YES" -- that way we can have a group that includes customers who have EITHER fields checked.

At this point in time, I can only do "AND" conditions. This means I can only create a group that has BOTH Field 1 & 2 checks or unchecked. I would like to be able to create a group that has EITHER+BOTH Field 1 & 2 checked.

Please to leave a comment.

Yes please.

We should be able to have OR conditions everywhere.

Please also add OR conditions to the metrics in the dashboard!

I think you have that backwards (or I'm reading it incorrectly). Currently you can AND the conditions which means BOTH fields have to be equal to "YES".

"Field 1 = YES"

AND

"Field 2 = YES"

That group criteria would return a group of contacts that have both of those fields equal to "YES". The contacts would be included only if both fields are "YES".

An OR condition like this:

Field 1 = "YES"

OR

Field 2 = "YES"

Would return contacts that have:

  1. Field 1 = YES / Field 2 = NO
  2. Field 1 = NO / Field 2 = YES
  3. Field 1 = YES / Field 2 = YES

The only contacts not returned with an OR condition would be those that have BOTH fields equal to "NO".

@Frank Hagan.

I'm looking to build a group that would have any person who has EITHER field 1 or field 2 marked as YES.

Just like you laid out here:

Would return contacts that have:

  1. Field 1 = YES / Field 2 = NO
  2. Field 1 = NO / Field 2 = YES
  3. Field 1 = YES / Field 2 = YES

I don't think it an odd request at all. For example, we're running a BOGO campaign with multiple products (I have created custom field for each product) and we want to include any customer who has claimed any type of BOGO (for any product) and be able to follow up with these customers to receive feedback about the product. I want to have one list that included all customers who have claimed a BOGO of any product. Hope this explains my use case. At this point I would have to create a separate group for each product, which if we have 30 products means I have to create 30 custom groups. It would be easier for me to include all products in one group so that we can follow up all at once.

Not a weird request at all! I just needed clarification because your original wording in the request confused me.
