Automation Upgrade - Searchable & Exporting

Kay Hippler

Hi!

For Ontraport automations, we are struggling to find a way to know what is in our automations. Example - we paid someone to build everything that we have but now when something is broken/not working/needs updating, we have no simple way to see what's wrong. This results in long hours trying to find the source. Because of this, we've ended up literally step by step documenting in another program how the automations run so that we have a searchable database. I believe that ON could easily solve this issue and make the valuable add via several different ways:

- add a layer of search ability to reach within the automation steps and not just the title of the automation

- allow each automation to be exportable to a spreadsheet format

- utilize AI to transcribe the automation into a "step by step" guide of how the automation operates for less "techy" people

I think this would be useful for not only us, but many other companies!

Sorry for your pain! But I love this request.. in fact, we're already working on a project to get AI to help you troubleshoot complex maps!

I've got questions about the others though.. what would you search for? And how would you export a complex map into a spreadsheet in a way that it's at all helpful?

Awesome - I thought you might have something up your sleeve! :) To be fair, I'm not a tech person at all, so that mind is where these ideas come from. There might be other things already set in place that answer these thoughts and I'm just not aware.

- When we need to search, it's usually for specific elements like "what automations add a specific tag" or trying to understand where a contact is getting added to an automation. For instance, currently we have a broken webhook somewhere in our system and there is no amount of searching that will help us figure it out! (Side idea: it would be really nice to do an exported report of a "health check" on your automations that tells me what is/isn't working)

- For the spreadsheet version of the automation, we've setup a spreadsheet that has the title of the automation, a reason the automation triggers, a summary of how it functions and then lists out what tags it adds/removes, any automations it adds/removes, and then any emails it sends. By using the exact names of emails/tags/automations it allows us to search very specifically if needed. The summary is also beneficial in the event we have people in the role who don't understand automations.

Thank you for your response!
