Allow using advanced event form fields

Julian Vidal

According to the doc, advanced event is a full object but it's not 100% true, we can't use form fields from that object.

I created a dynamic template for advanced events and when I try to add a form using fields fro that object, it doesn't show the advanced events object :/

Please allow to use form fields from that object in dynamic templates

Not planned

We do allow this! But for this object, the "form" is your booking calendar. Trying to create or manage complete calendar events via a traditional form would be broken in so many ways that it would be next to useless.

What are you actually trying to achieve?

We need to have a form for sales rep to fill out after a call, so we don't need this in the booking page since its for internal use only. Also:

1- Not all sales rep have an Ontraport seat, so we're using a dynamic template within a membership site.

2- Even if all sales rep have a seat, it's dynamic form using Clickfix (if Field X = yes, show field Y and hide field Z, etc.); so it's not user friendly if they just fill out from the advanced event record as they'll need to remember the logic of what fields to fill out accordingly.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Makes sense. At Ontraport, we create a separate Call object record that connects events and contacts. Alternatively, you could create temp fields in the contact record, use a contact form, then pipe those via API to the event record you want to update.

Thanks for the ideas, Landon!

I don't like the idea of another object, that will be an extra layer of complexity and we'll need to upgrade our DCMS plan.

I'm not a huge fan of using fields in the contact object since that will create a lot of unnecessary records in the automation logs of the contact but it seems like the most feasible solution.

Thanks!
