Justin Streeks

Allow Merge feilds for subject feild.... I want the Subject to change based on whats in my excel sheet. Instead of changing each subject line manually it could just change automatically with a merged feild. Thanks

You can use merge fields in email subject lines! The steps would be:

  1. Select a field in the Contact record to hold the data. You can use an existing field or a custom field you create in Contacts > Settings > Field Editor.
  2. To populate the data in the field you can enter it manually, or upload a CSV file using Contacts > Settings > Import. See https://ontraport.com/support/crm/import-contacts/ for more on importing data using a CSV. (You can also use Zapier or another integration service, or the API directly if you're a dev type.)
  3. Use the merge field in the subject line, enclosed in square brackets. To verify how the merge field in the subject line should look add the merge field to the body of the message using the merge field selector. For example, for the "Birthday" field the merge field would be formatted [Birthday]. See https://ontraport.com/support/crm/set-up-and-use-merge-fields/ for more information.
  4. When the email is sent our backend processor will retrieve the data from the field and insert it.
