Feature Request: Partial Refunds
Hi team,
We would love to put forward a feature request for partial refund functionality. We acknowledge there's a couple ways to get it done in OP (either refund/recharge correct amount, or do it in the gateway, then void and offline transaction) but these are cumbersome/messy, and in the case of refund/recharge not really helpful when we've working with sales of 2K+.
Gratefully it doesn't happen often, but we did have a case recently where a client purchased a program for 1999, but forgot to add in a credit they had of 399. Doing a refund and recharge wasn't an option because the refund isn't instant and at this higher price-point we aren't going to ask our clients to just wait for a full refund while we immediately recharge for the correct amount. And the other option works, but it's inelegant and a bit of a fumble to get it done.
We'd LOVE the option to simply process a partial refund via OP directly, which then auto generates an amended receipt for the client, with notes if possible :)

This is definitely needed! We run a membership organizations and while not often, we do occasionally need to refund back 50% of their original purchase and there should be a much simpler way to do that. Thank you.

Would still love this. For those of us who ship physical - this is a very common thing to have to do. Someone buys stuff, asks to cancel only part of the order before it is fulfilled.

Hey Michael, thanks for your patience. In fact, the v1 of Invoices is a step in the direction of partial refunds. As it stands, 'invoices' and 'payments' are linked 1:1, so there's no concept of a 'partial refund' or 'partial payment' of an invoice. The next step in our plan is exactly this: to separate payments and invoices into two things, thus enabling the idea of partial payments and refunds and credits, etc. I'm not sure if partial refunds is in the next release or the one after, but we're marching down the path!
