Scheduling Emails and/or Postcards for Birthdays and Holidays

How to Schedule Emails for Birthdays and Holidays

To set up automated holiday or birthday Messages (Emails, Tasks, SMS or Postcards), you'll need to create a Date Sequence which will automatically deliver the pre-scheduled Step when the time comes. Open a Date Sequence and follow the directions below.

    For Birthdays

    1. Add an Email Step (or other Step of your choice)
    2. Schedule the Step
      1. For Emails, Tasks, and SMS
        1. Insert your desired Step message type and select Specific Event
        2. Select the Birthday Field from the Select Field dropdown
        3. Check the box next to run this step every year

      2. For postcards
        1. Insert a Postcard Step and select Specific Event
        2. Select the Step to fire 8 to 12 days before the Contact's birthday to account for shipping time.
        3. Select the Birthday Field from the Select Field dropdown
        4. Check the box next to run this step every year

    5. Save the Sequence

    For Holidays

    1. Add an Email Step (or other Step of your choice)
    2. Schedule the Step
      1. For Emails
        1. Select Specific Date
        2. Designate the date (holiday) that the Step should fire

      2. For Postcards
        1. Insert a Postcard step and select Specific Date
        2. Set the Step to fire 8 to 12 days before the Holiday to account for shipping time.
    3. Select your stored Email, Postcard, SMS or Task
    4. Close the Step
    5. Save the Sequence

    Other Important Facts

    • If a Contact has a blank 'Birthday' field in their Contact Record and is subscribed to a Date Sequence containing a scheduled birthday Step, the Step will be skipped for that particular contact.
