    About Editing Campaigns

    Applies to: All ONTRAPORT accounts.

The Campaign Builder allows easy editing of campaign elements. You can copy or move a branch of the Campaign Map to another location, or delete an entire section of the campaign.

    Copy or Move Campaign Elements

Click on an element and drag the move icon to the new location. The move icon is four directional arrows located in the top left.

Select if you want to move only that element, move that element and everything after it, copy the element to the new location or copy the element and all the following elements. You may have less or more options presented based on where the element is located on the Campaign Map.

    Move or Copy the Elements

Moving an element will move all the contacts on that element to the new location. When you copy an element all the settings, content and comments are copied into the new location, but contacts will remain on the original elements.

These items can not be moved:

Move only this item: Forks, conditions and splits. Triggers (these can only be moved side to side for reordering), Waits with connected Goals, GoTo and End elements cannot be moved on to a in between two elements (plus circle symbol), they can only be moved onto a 'what happens next' element.

Move this and all following items: Any sub items that contain a GoTo or End element cannot be moved on to a in between two elements (plus circle symbol), they can only be moved onto a 'what happens next' element.

Copy this item: GoTo and End elements cannot be moved on to a in between two elements (plus circle symbol), they can only be moved onto a 'what happens next' element.

Deleting an Element or a Path

Click on an Element and click the trash can icon located in the upper right.

Move, copy and delete icons on the element

Select one of the delete options available. You can delete the single element, causing the ones below it to move up on the Campaign Map, or delete the element and all the elements below it. Other options or warnings may appear if your action will impact other portions of the Campaign Map

    Delete element dialog

If the element has contacts on it a warning will be displayed that deleting the element will also remove the contacts from the Campaign when it is published. This does not delete their Contact Record in ONTRAPORT, and only removes them from the Campaign.

In some cases you may not be able to delete an element due to other dependencies, and will have to delete those items first.

    Add an Element

To add or insert a new element between two other elements click the plus sign icon.

Click the plus sign between elements to insert a new one

Some element pairs cannot have an unrelated element inserted. For example, a Goal always has a Wait element immediately prior to it, and there is no plus sign icon between them.

    Preview Resources on Elements

ONTRAPORT provides a preview button when selecting certain Campaign element items. ONTRAforms, ONTRAmail messages, ONTRApages and Campaigns will pop up a preview image so you can be sure you are selecting the correct one.

Preview an ONTRAmail message in a Send Email element:

Preview an ONTRAfrom in a Trigger:

preview a form from a Campaign Trigger

    Form Preview on a Goal:

The preview button will not appear, or be deactivated, if the resource is not able to be displayed (legacy landing pages, HTML Editor email, etc.)
