    Pages Best Practices

    Best Practices

ONTRAPORT Pages are new and we're constantly developing what we believe are best practices. Below a few of the design concepts we follow.

    Font Styles

We highly recommend that you adjust your font styles using the font style dropdown menu instead of adding custom fonts for each text element.

While you can override the default font face and size for an individual element and create a "Custom Font" element, this means that it will no longer react to changes made to the font style dropdown menu on the page level because you have customized it.

If you have 7 text elements with 7 custom font elements and you decide you want to change it, you have to change it 7 times - this is time consuming so make sure you use the font style drop down as much as possible!

Also, if you favorite a block or element and you use the Font Styles menu, when you add that favorite block or element to another Page, the font will carry over to the new Page.

    Color Palettes

Similar to font styles, using the color palette dropdown will save you time and make creating consistent pages so much easier.  Add you brand colors to the color palette and use that dropdown to select your colors on elements such as text and buttons. This way if you decide to change your brand color, all you have to do is change the color once and it cascades throughout the page.

While you can override the default color palette and choose colors for each individual element and create a "Custom Color" element, this means that it will no longer react to changes made to the color palette dropdown menu on the page level because you have customized it.

If you have 10 different text elements with custom colors and you decide you want to change it, you have to change it 10 times - this is time consuming so make sure you use the color palette drop down as much as possible! When you use the color

When you create a color palette, you can save it. When you create a new page, click the color palette dropdown, then click color suggestions and your saved color palette will be the first selection available under the suggested options.

    Favorites

Small heart icons appear on pages, blocks and elements. Clicking the heart allows you to favorite the item. If you plan on using an item again, make it a favorite by clicking the heart icon. Once favorited, it is easily accessible for use in other Pages. When a favorite item is added to a Page, it takes on the font style and color attributes of the new Page.

    Favorite a Block

Click the gear icon on the right side of the block to enter block edit mode. Click the heart icon. Block favorites appear in the favorites section on the left panel when you add a new block.

    Favorite an Element

Click to edit the Element, then the Style Tab. Click the heart icon. Element favorites appear under the Style or Settings tab, next to the presets.

To remove a favorite, click the heart icon so it is unhighlighted.
